About the Wee Ghostie Company
Ghost Makers since 2010
A Brief History of The Wee Ghostie Company.
The first Wee Ghostie appeared in 2010, in a workshop in Edinburgh. Oliver Findlay had some leftover clay, a little spare time, and, as it turned out, a knack for making small spooky things. Originally, the ghost ornaments were created simply to bring some character to the workshop space, but something about them just worked. By the end of that year, he’d made some moulds, and 400 more ghosts were produced and taken to a local Samhain market. They found homes. People loved them. And so a quiet tradition was born.
That tradition of making ghosts and selling them at craft markets continued every year until 2018, when life got in the way, as it tends to do, and the Ghosties were laid to rest.
They didn’t stay that way, though. In 2021, as the world slowly found its feet again after the pandemic, Oliver felt the pull to bring them back. A limited run of 500 went out into the world under the name ‘Art of Nadar’, Oliver’s ceramics company at the time. The collectable ghost ornaments found new homes to haunt. Over the next four years, Oliver continued releasing small batches under the ‘Art of Nadar’ name.
In 2023, things changed again. A shift in Oliver’s own health made him take stock of what mattered, and the answer kept coming back to the Ghosties and to his son, who has severe learning disabilities. Oliver wanted to create an employment opportunity for his son, and something real and lasting for them both, a family business that opens doors where they wouldn’t otherwise exist. And so The Wee Ghostie Company Ltd was formed.

Each clan has its own tartan and individual charm. There are six clan Ghosties to collect, but be warned: these clans do not always see eye to eye.
Each Ghostie began as a sculpture made from the same clay used in animation films. They are hand-carved and hand-sculpted, and we then create a mould from the design so we can hand-cast hundreds of Ghosties
Original Ghosties: These are almost identical in design and colour.
Series Ghosties, including Clan Ghosties: We use the same colours, but patterns may vary slightly from one Ghostie to the next, while the overall design remains consistent.
We recommend:
Keeping them out of direct, prolonged sunlight.
Avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture or outdoor conditions.
Cleaning with a dry microfibre cloth using delicate strokes.
Treat them as you would your grandmother’s bone china collection.
